Dear Yoga Instructors,

You are invited to submit a chapter for inclusion in my next book, "What is Yoga in America?".

"What is Yoga in America?" is a continuation of my book that includes only my interpretation of What is Yoga? . The next book will be the answers to What is Yoga? in the words of America's inspirational yoga instructors.

I will be including the writings of 25 yoga instructors. Share your words of wisdom with the world or pass this along to a teacher who has inspired you!

Overview:

  • The book will include 25 chapters written by yoga instructors from the United States. Each chapter will be dedicated to one yoga instructor's interpretation of, "What is Yoga?".
  • Authors included in the book will receive all of the following benefits:

    1. Being recognized as a published author provides considerable credibility for opportunities to teach at yoga conferences and workshops on a regional and national level.  You will be included  in a book that will be marketed to yoga studios, yoga teacher training programs and bookshops throughout the United States.
    2. Your bio, website and other contact information (if desired) will be featured at the end of  your chapter of the book. This kind of exposure is invaluable, especially during challenging economic times.
    3. Ability to include your contribution on your professional bio
    4. Rights to submit your contribution to other venues, such as magazines and websites
    5. Exposure on Google, Yahoo, and MSN search engines
    6. One free copy of the book in soft cover
    7. An electronic version of the book (.pdf file) that you may distribute at no cost

  • The book will be distributed in soft copy through the following on-line retailers: lulu.com, amazon.com and may be picked up for distribution at other in-store locations. A downloadable version of the book will also be available for sale.

This book is will include the writings of yoga instructors representing different yoga styles, demographics and locations. While I enjoy the teachings yogis on the conference "circuit", this book is about the learnings we can gain from the yoga teachers who may not (yet) be so well known.

"What is Yoga in America?" is scheduled to be published, February 14, 2009. Be a published author in less than 8 weeks without having to do anything share what you already teach!

I look forward to reading your submissions and helping to spread the word about the many interpretations of what yoga is.

Namaste,

Deborah Bernstein

What inspired me to compile this book?

Owning a yoga studio and yoga retreat center has brought me into contact with some inspiring, creative and gifted yoga instructors. Although I have been teaching yoga for 8+ years, I am continually learning and adapting my practice and teachings from the precious gems of yoga I pick up from other teachers.

I want to share your teachings and allow others to integrate them into their practice and teachings. We often have the opportunity to hear from the yoga masters who are featured at conferences and in yoga magazines; they are wise and inspiring, AND SO ARE YOU.

During recent months I've begun a blog that includes my personal musings as well as my personal interpretation of "What is Yoga?". The feedback I've received has been to share more. So, rather than only sharing my interpretations, I want to spread the knowledge sharing and include the musings and enlightenings of more yoga teachers.

My intent in compiling this book is to share your voices and to illustrate the diversity of yoga in America.

Please read the guidelines and submit your interpretation of "What is Yoga?" by January 15, 2009.
